Frequently Asked Questions

What does the structure of the session look like?

I offer 45-minute weekly sessions. I only offer virtual sessions at the moment. The first session (the initial evaluation) is a bit more structured with a lot more questions that may feel repetitive. I like to get a general understanding of your background and important areas of your life in the present. I will ask about your current symptoms, or struggles and how long they have been occurring. Together we will discuss your therapy goals, and what you are looking to improve upon. We will also cover the practice policies and scheduling. From there, each session takes its own form, but I often tailor the session to fit the client’s needs with some clients preferring more structure while others enjoy a more open and free-flowing environment.

What is virtual therapy like?

While many people initially think they want in-person sessions, I have found that most, if not all, of my clients, have gravitated toward preferring virtual therapy due to its flexibility. Virtual therapy gives you the opportunity to meet with me from home, from the office, or even on vacation. It will be best for you to have a private and safe space available for our session. Alma will send a link before our session which gives you access to join our video sessions. I also provide phone sessions for those that have limited privacy or for those who need to get off the screens for a walk- some of my clients say they think better while walking.

What is the cost of therapy?

I am currently only in-network with Aetna, so if you are in-network with Aetna then your responsibility is your co-pay or deductible. If you have any other health insurance provider, each 45 minute session is $300 and 60 minute is $350. Most of my clients’ insurance plans have OON (out-of-network) benefits that usually reimburse anywhere from 50-90% of our sessions. l encourage you to call your health insurance provider to find out your OON benefits. Ask the representative if you have “out of network mental health coverage” and if yes, then ask if you have an OON deductible to meet first and lastly, what your OON reimbursement percentage is. You can download your superbills (an invoice of our sessions) directly through Alma and submit them to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for as much notice as possible since I have reserved that specific time for you. The minimum notice I can accept is 24 hours. For anything under 24 hours, my regular fee applies. I always make an exception for a cancellation due a serious emergency.
